Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations.” (Matt 28:18-19)

The beginning of the Great Commission begins with a statement of the authority of the Great Commissioner that issues it. The central command to make disciples comes from the Disciple-maker himself, who modeled how it could be done then commissions that it should be done.
