Here are twelve main things we need to be taught in this life by the Lord:
“Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: 2 “The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses seat. 3 So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. 4 They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.5 Everything they do is done for people to see: They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long; 6 they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; 7 they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others.” Matthew 23:1-7
To know if you are teachable answer this question, “Am I able to agree to disagree with others and still love them?” Do I always have to have it my way? Am I legalistic, dogmatic? Jesus faced these types of individuals in His ministry, They were the Pharisee and the Sadducee.
When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required, Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying: “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all people, a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel.” (Luke 2:27-32)
As a faithful God-follower, Simeon had been waiting and praying for “the consolation of Israel,” but he recognized the infant Jesus as the source of revelation for Gentiles, glory for Israel, and salvation for all people.
“Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land.” (Song of Solomon 2:12)
Different conditions and activities characterize different seasons. They are appropriate for that season and that season only. Each season has value, even though God’s purposes for them may be different.
