“We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death 19 and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified.On the third day he will be raised to life!”
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations.” (Matt 28:18-19)
The beginning of the Great Commission begins with a statement of the authority of the Great Commissioner that issues it. The central command to make disciples comes from the Disciple-maker himself, who modeled how it could be done then commissions that it should be done.
