Camp Update from Martha

Quote

Yesterday we had the privilege of meeting with a young woman and her husband who both have a heart for the Lord and for young people.

They will be coming to Idyllwild Pines Camp this summer, bringing 100 high school girls for a week. It’ll be a week filled with fun activities and great teaching and… you can bet there will be lots of glam, glitter, lip gloss and sparkly nail polish.

Why are they bringing these girls on a retreat up here to mile high Idyllwild? It’s simple really, they want these girls to know how God feels about them. This young couple want young women to fully understand God’s perspective on their beauty; to catch a glimpse of how God feels about them rather than what Hollywood, TV and the glamour magazines say.

We are excited about the opportunity to participate with God’s Beloved ministry and are really looking forward to their week here at Idyllwild Pines. They have given Idyllwild Pines Camp an extraordinary opportunity as we’ll be working closely with them, creating the week-long curriculum based on their goals and objectives.

God’s Beloved ministries will have their online registration system up soon so call us for more information if there’s a high school girl in your life that you would like to involve in this wonderful retreat.

Verse of the Day – Mark 4:41

They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!” (Mark 4:41)

We know the disciples were afraid of the storm because Jesus asked them, “Why are you so afraid?” What is truly amazing is that after Jesus calmed the storm, they were “terrified.” They didn’t know who he was completely, but they knew they were in the presence of someone other, One who ruled over nature itself.

Verse of the Day – Luke 2:27-32

Quote

When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required, Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying: “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, now dismiss your servant in peace. “For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all people, a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel.” (Luke 2:27-32)

Six weeks after the birth of Jesus, his parents took him to Jerusalem to consecrate him to God. As soon as Simeon held him, he knew that he was holding the promised Messiah and he praised God for fulfilling his hope.

Archery Program at Idyllwild Pines Camp

Archery Programming

Students from St. Catherines participated in the Archery program lead by Ted Ewing, Director of Program and Curriculum. These young boys were challenged to stay focus in life even among trials and most importantly, not to get down when they don’t hit the target because it is with God’s help when we succeed!

Idyllwild Pines began their 2011 summer season with a facelift.  The beautification project enhanced the gate way entrance, increased parking and improved guest loading and unloading zones.  Trails were more clearly marked, native shrubs planted, and the prayer garden was redesigned to facilitate reflection, meditation and prayer.

Calvary Chapel Murrieta held their 3rd and 4th grade retreat at IPC on July 21, 2011. With temperatures in the mid 80′s all week it was perfect weather for a day at the pool. The campers enjoyed helping their councilors get a little wet also!
