Video Sermon – “The Perfect Rescue”

Quote

Presented by Martha Snyder, Executive Director at Idyllwild Pines Camp on May 22, 2012. The Perfect Rescue is a study of Luke 8:26-39. Jesus demonstrates to His disciples how they need to “get out of the boat”.  While in theory we would all say we are willing to travel closely with Jesus, there are times when our fears can cause us to stay put in our own boats. We vote with our feet!  Do we stay or do we go?

  • How to control our tongue? (Job 6:24)
  • Which path should I take in life? (Psalm 25:4)
  • What is God’s Way? (Psalm 27:11, Psalm 86:11)

  • What is Truth? (Psalm 25:5)

Today’s Manna – Joshua 1:7-9

“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:7-9

Realize that God is with us wherever we go. He is there! We need to renew our mind to be aware, so that we can claim the courage that is there for us.

Remember that blessings come out of obedience, ask and it shall be given. Matthew 7:7

Why Care About Israel – Reason 4

Reason number four to care about Israel:  God tells us in Scripture to pray for Jerusalem

6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May they prosper who love you. Psalm 122:6

Our God is a very intentional God and He, throughout Scripture, has helped us understand what is important to him. For example, He tells us to pray for our enemies, and to pray for and care about one another. Here in Psalms, He is giving us further direction and specifically telling us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Throughout the Bible God talks to us about Jerusalem more than 800 times. It’s important to Him and thus must be important to us.

Reason Number Two: Why We Care About Israel

Reason Number Two: Because we owe them an enormous debt of eternal gratitude.

“Yes, they were pleased to do so, and they are indebted to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in their spiritual things, they are indebted to minister to them also in material things.” Romans 15:27

The Jews have given us much…
The Sacred Scripture
The Prophets
The Patriarchs
Mary, Joseph, Yeshua, Jesus of Nazareth
The twelve disciples
All other Jewish leaders in the new testament – Paul

Think on these things…Judaism does not need Christianity to explain its existence, however, Christianity cannot explain its existence without Judaism.
