This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.
Families all over America will be gathering around the dinner table, as they would around a campfire, for Thanksgiving Day. Uncles will tell funny jokes, and grandmas will pass along family recipes. Mothers will be meddling in the lives of their single sons and daughters, and questioning why they have not met the “one”. Basically, a lot of talking will be happening.
While catching up with family matters, stories of amazing provision will be told. Now what is provision? Provision is the act or process of supplying or providing something. That can encompass many things. Provision can be receiving good news about a sick family member or receiving a needed job opportunity . Moments like these we remember and tell the world because we are overjoyed with gratitude. Some will tweet about it and some will do a celebratory touchdown dance, but in the midst of our joy or in mid-dance move, we must ask, “ who was the supplier of the provision?”
Those moments just described become stories that illustrate God Just-In-Time Provision. At one point in your life, God has shown you or will show you His Just-In-Time Provision. God has impeccable timing and we, as His children, get a front row seat to His provision. In Scripture, we are reminded numerously on how He provides .
Psalm 111:5 – He provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever.
Psalm 65:9 – You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain, for so you have ordained it.
Psalm 68:10 - Your people settled in it, and from your bounty, God, you provided for the poor.
Acts 14:17 – Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.
So this Thanksgiving, tell your sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, and friends that amazing story where God’s Just-In-Time Provision occurred. The next generation needs to hear how God has been actively working to fulfill His promises. A testimony of God’s provision can be powerful to a new or a mature believer.
In closing, please remember to share that story to your co-worker, acquaintances, and strangers who need God in their life. They need to hear about God’s love and how God’s love is demonstrated through His Power of Provision.
Holiday Pie & Homemade Caramel Corn Sale
An Idyllwild Pines Camp & Conference Event
Idyllwild, CA, November 9, 2013 – Idyllwild Pines Camp & Conference Center is accepting pie orders for the Holiday Season. The camp’s kitchen staff are excited about making quality pies for families to enjoy during their traditional holiday dinner.
Nancy McAuliffe, Idyllwild Pines’ Food Service Manager, states “we are once again offering Holiday pies for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The donations that we receive from the pie sales are used to purchase new equipment for the Food Service kitchen. We are also offering our fresh made caramel corn for the Holidays!”
The holidays are a time where families reunite. Family members, young and old, gather near a cozy fire to share stories, wisdom and values that influence generations. Each of the kitchen staff recognizes that these moments are precious and are putting some care and thought into these pies.
Inspired by nostalgia and tradition, Chandra Crump, Idyllwild Pines lead baker, states that these pies are “better than grandma used to make! I know, because she taught me, I just add a little something extra”.
Josh Grissom, Food Service Assistant, enthusiastically explains that “Idyllwild Pines’ Pies are not processed; we put love into our pies”.
Idyllwild Pines Camp & Conference will be offering three classic pies: Cherry pie, Apple pie, and Pumpkin Pie. For more information about the pies, how to order, and deadlines please visit our website www.Idyllwildpines.org.
